In his latest work with The Juilliard School, Houston turns his gaze skyward, finding inspiration in the life and power of stars. Supernova serves as both a showcase and a testament to the energy and promise of Juilliard’s freshman class of 2024. Reflecting on his experience, Houston shares: "This being my second collaboration at Juilliard, I'm continually inspired by the students' passion and dedication, as well as by the vibrant, supportive environment cultivated here at the school."

In astronomy, a supernova is a powerful explosion marking the end of a star’s life. But in this work, Houston reimagines the supernova not as an end, but as a beginning—a burst of creative energy symbolizing the dawn of a new era or the spark of a promising future. Houston hopes to leave each dancer with the feeling that they are all stars in their own right, and that their brilliance depends only on how deeply they tap into their potential.
